A young organization established in 2004, Pitching in for Kids was inspired by local business owners wanting to give back to the community. Already having established themselves within the community, Carol Troxell and Sara Youngelson decided to take their passion of community involvement to the next level. Starting up Pitching in for Kids (PIFK) has become one of their most exciting adventures! The organization is growing fast, having added even more events to this years calender, some of which include The First Annual Capital Grille Golf Tournament, A Candy Land Tournament, Poker Tournaments as well as the sponsorship of an eight foot Gingerbread House Project!!

Pitching in for Kids has received press from NECN, The Boston Herald, The Boston Globe, The Metro, ESPN Radio as well as WEEI. The word is out...we are looking forward to bringing you more exciting events in the months to come!!

Carol Troxell:

A local business owner and the developer of the original Pitching In For Kids golf events, Carol enjoys getting involved. Over the years, Carol has worked with local athletes such as Tim Wakefield,Johnny Damon and now Jason Varitek to put together tournaments and parties that have raised well over $900,000 for the Franciscan Hospital for Children, The Starlight Foundation and other childrens charities. Carol serves on the Merchants Association Board and leads owners meetings at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. She enjoys involving her many business contacts in special fund-raising events that will benefit children in the community. She considers being a liaison between business and charity to be the most rewarding part of her career.

Sara Youngelson:

A local Boston business entrepreneur, Sara shares in the passion to work on the development of children in the local community. A graduate of Boston University, Sara started and was chapter director of Best Buddies where she led and involved other students in the lives of young children with special needs.
