Red Sox Foundation Scholars

The Red Sox Scholars is an award-winning program run by the Red Sox Foundation, the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox. The program was launched in 2003 and with the selection of the new class of Boston Public School students in 2012, the Red Sox Scholars Program now provides mentoring, enrichment activities and college scholarships to 220 Boston Public School students. Funded by the Red Sox Foundation, the Scholars’ college scholarships of up to $10,000 per student are redeemable upon enrollment in an accredited college and on the condition on continued good citizenship. The Red Sox Scholars come from diverse backgrounds and have demonstrated perseverance in the face of many challenges.

Now selected in the spring of their 7th grade year, the programming for their newest class of Scholars focuses on supporting strong academic habits and navigating the high school application process.  In addition to school-based and district resources, the Red Sox Scholars receive critical mentoring and guidance from Red Sox Foundation staff members, cultivating positive relationships and developing the requisite skill set necessary for success.  As the Scholars advance through high school, the focus of the program shifts to job readiness and professionalism in the 9th and 10th grade, and the college application/financial aid processes during the 11th and 12th grade.  They currently have three classes of Scholars in college and are honored to help support Boston’s talented youth achieve their goals.
